Dear The South Alabamian, The Monroe Journal, Pensacola News Journal, Tri-City Ledger,
First and foremost the fines should be used to care for sick individuals needing health care. Secondly the money from these fines should go to those individuals still waiting for unpaid claims. Some residents jumped in with both feet using their own equipment to help clean up this mess and need to be compensated for their time, contributions and losses etc. Thirdly the money should be used to re-mediate, restore and rejuvenate what damage has been done to our coast line. This does not mean new hotels, condos and roads. This means clean up, replanting and repairing what it left in the wake of the spill. The tourism industry has already gotten more than their fair share of BP money. Sincerely, Mrs. Heather Dixey
