Oil Spill Patient Treatment
The Environmental Health Center – Dallas has treated many patients sickened from the Alaskan oil spill. Our experience and successes in treating the effects from the oil exposure is well documented. We can help people who are suffering with signs and symptoms of toxicity to the recent gulf oil spill. Some of our treatment center’s treatment tools include:
NUTRITIONAL SPUPPORT:
Based on the testing and evaluation process, the Center’s physicians determine an individualized therapy program for each patient. Elimination or rotation diets, intelligent avoidance of incidents, nutritional supplementation, osteopathic manipulation and immunotherapy are some of the procedures often recommended.
Nutritional Support for People Exposed to Petrochemicals from an Oil Spill
AVOIDANCE OF POLLUTANTS
SPECT BRAIN SCAN:
Single photon emission computed tomography is performed with a "brain specific" radionuclide.
LABORATORY EVALUATION:
Blood, urine, adipose tissue for xenobiotics: pesticides (organophosphates, organochlorides), solvents (aromatic volatile hydrocarbons, ketones, aldehydes and metabolites), polychlorinated biphenyls, pentachlorophenol, pyrethroid metabolites, heavy metals, and chlorophenoxy herbicides.
SAUNA & DETOX:
This outpatient means of treating toxic exposures is a six-day-per-week, physician-supervised program consisting of dry heat, exercise, massage, vitamin and mineral replacement, administration of xenobiotic binding substances and monitoring of toxin levels in blood and/or fat tissue.
IMMUNOTHERAPY:
A specialized type of vaccine treatment, which can provide substantial relief from offending agents. During the skin testing process, exact treatment level, or "optimal dosage," of each substance is established for the patient.
OXYGEN THERAPY
PATIENT EDUCATION:
To do this successfully, our patients are educated about their sensitivities and actively involved in carrying out their prescribed treatment plans.
