How-To: Sprouting Seeds
Thank you to Mountain Rose Herbs for this AWESOME (have to share) snippet from your catalogue which, if you don’t have one, GET ONE! You’ll be glad you did!
This landed in my have to scrap and share pile. I find it’s a great reminder to get more raw micro nutrients in my diet.
Forget paying high prices at the grocery store, it really is this easy! DIY for just a fraction of the cost to your piggy bank or the planet.
Now let’s get down to business.
Step 2 – Fill the jar with cold water and stir to ensure that each see is soaking.
Step 3 – Allow the seeds to soak overnight.
Step 4 – Attach your sprouting screen to the jar lid and drain as much water as possible. Rinse in cool water again and drain well.
Step 5 – Place the jar upside down in a bowl, resting the jar at a diagonal so the seeds stay relatively spread out in the jar but can continue to drain.
Step 6 – Rinse and drain your seeds thoroughly twice s day for 5-6 days.
Step 7 – For your final rinse, fill the jar with cold water and scoop out any seed hulls that float to the top. Drain, rinse, and drain again thoroughly.
Step 8 – Use a salad spinner or cloth towel to remove any excess moisture.
Step 9 – Once your sprouts are mostly dry they are ready to refrigerate in a closed jar or sealed baggie.
