Patricia James Call For Action To Erin Brockovich, 4-21-11
Email and Response to Erin Brockovich 4/21/2011
Dear Erin,
I greatly appreciate your interest concerning the health issues of the Gulf Coast community due to the Deep Water Horizon oil spill. Due to the many mishaps conducted by our Government and BP, our beaches are lined with oil, tar mats and dispersants. Not only are our beaches and water contaminated, but the air as well. For example, according to the EPA the latest air quality test results for VOCs was conducted on June 25, 2010 in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The latest EPA water testing for dispersants was conducted on September 10, 2010. This is totally unacceptable.
I have personally experienced severe health symptoms, as well as many others in the region from Florida to Louisiana. We are in dire need of medical assistance and survival on all levels.
The following is a list of my physical and mental symptoms associated with this oil spill, along with the concurring dates:
Anxiety; preexisting condition, but has gotten worse
Brain Fog – Losing Train of Thought; June 2010
Chest congestion and pain; August 2010
Constipation; October 2010 through December 2010
Coughing with Sputum; June 2010
Diarrhea; June 2010 through October 2010
Ear Aches; June 2010
Eyes Burning / Watering; June 2010
Headaches; June 2010
Heart Palpitations; December 2010
Memory loss; June 2010
Motivation – lack of (lethargic); June 2010
Nausea; June 2010
Parenthesis – Tingling, pricking, numbness of skin; August 2010
Sinus congestion and pain 6+months; June 2010
Skin boils, sores, itching, rashes; June 2010
Tinnitus – Ringing of the Ears; preexisting condition, but has gotten worse
Vertigo; preexisting condition, but has gotten worse
Vision Changes, sensitivity to light; June 2010
On numerous occasions I have made doctor appointments, only to leave the office with an empty feeling and lost hope. Our local doctors and hospitals are either not educated to handle detoxification or do not want to be held responsible. We are only treated for our symptoms, which seem to reoccur. The following is a list of my visits, as well as the diagnosis and treatment:
August 13, 2010; diarrhea, rashes, nausea and vertigo; Prescription: Meclizine 25 mg., Imodium, Bactrim
August 26, 2010; chest pains, coughing, sore throat; Chest X-ray and Blood Lab work – all came back normal
October 21, 2010; nausea, vertigo, sinus infection; Valium 5 mg / 3 times a day; Levaquin
January 17, 2011; pneumonia; In-House Nebulizer, Prednisone, prescription Nebulizer, Z Pak antibiotic
January 24, 2011; still wheezing; different prescription Nebulizer
April 12, 2011; Sinus infection; Bactrim for 15 days
I have attached photos of my rashes and boils that seem to reappear and leave scars. In addition, please note that John Wathen produced a video of me and it is currently on my YouTube account at the following link:

Your attention is greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance for your time and efforts to help SAVE the Gulf Coast.

Patricia James
RESPONSE:
Dear Alexandra,
Thank you for taking the time to read my lengthy email with history. My intent was not to become part of a class action lawsuit. My hopes are that the people and wildlife of the Gulf Coast are recognized and are no longer dismissed by mass media. People are sick and we need help. We have passed the one-year mark of this devastation and the effects are now more prevalant; and with time will be worse. The clock is ticking. People are dying, endangered wildlife is dying. Our government has failed us.
Thanks again, Patricia
